Privacy policy
Last updated November 5, 2026 · Draft, under review
Speech Pill is a dictation app made by AYN Services Inc. ("we", "us"), a company in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what Speech Pill and this website collect, why, and what we never collect.
The short version
- Your voice and the words you dictate stay on your PC. Speech recognition runs on your computer. Audio and dictated text are never sent to us or anyone else, and never saved to disk or written to a log.
- Your account holds your email address and an account id. We use them to sign you in and, once Pro is available, to know which plan you have.
- Payments are handled by Stripe and RevenueCat. We never see your full card number.
- This website uses no cookies, analytics, ads or trackers.
- Private mode stops everything from leaving your PC.
What stays on your PC
Speech and dictated text
Speech Pill turns your speech into text on your own computer. The audio is kept in memory only while you dictate, then dropped. The text is typed or pasted where your cursor is. Neither is saved to disk, written to a log or sent over the internet.
Recent dictations
The Speech Pill window can show your last 20 dictations so you can copy or fix one. They are kept in memory only, are gone when Speech Pill quits, and you can turn this off on the Recent page.
Learned words
When you correct a word Speech Pill typed (for example a name), Speech Pill can learn it. To notice the correction it reads, in memory only, a few hundred characters around your cursor in the box where it just typed, for up to 10 minutes. It never reads password boxes, and it can be switched off ("Learn from my edits" on the Learned words page). What it keeps is only the word pair (the word it heard and the word you typed instead), with counts and dates, in a file on your PC encrypted for your Windows account. It never keeps the text around the word, the app or the window.
Text before the cursor and what you type
To punctuate a new dictation so it fits what is already there, Speech Pill may read up to 200 characters before your cursor in some text boxes, and it notes what kind of key you last typed (a letter, a space or a full stop, never the character itself). Both stay in memory only and are never saved or sent.
The log
Speech Pill keeps a log on your PC to help us fix problems. It holds numbers, yes/no values and fixed words only: never what you said, what you typed, window titles, key names, your email address or file paths.
Your account
To use Speech Pill you sign in with an emailed code, or with Google or Microsoft when those are offered.
- What we keep: your email address, an account id, when the account was created and when it last signed in, and how you sign in. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, that provider also shares basic profile details such as your name, which are stored with your account.
- Where: accounts are kept by Supabase, our sign-in and database provider, in its Canadian region. Sign-in codes are emailed through Resend, our email delivery provider.
- On your PC: your sign-in is kept in Windows Credential Manager, and a small file encrypted for your Windows account holds your account id and how you signed in. Your email address is never written to your PC's disk or log; the app shows it from memory.
Your plan and word counts
The Free plan includes 5,000 dictated words a week. When this limit starts, Speech Pill counts the words you dictate (the number only, never the words) and sends the weekly total for your account to our server, so the limit holds across your PCs. Our server also records whether your account has Pro.
Payments
Pro subscriptions are sold through RevenueCat, which runs the checkout and subscriptions, and Stripe, which processes cards. They receive your payment details, billing email and country. We receive your subscription status, plan, renewal dates and country, never your full card number. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Our providers and their logs
We use these companies to run Speech Pill: Supabase (accounts and database), Cloudflare (this website, our domain and our server), Resend (sign-in emails), Stripe and RevenueCat (payments), and Namecheap (our support inbox). Like most online services, they keep their own logs, which can include your IP address, your email address and your account id. Each follows its own privacy policy. Some of them process data in the United States.
Private mode
With Private mode on, nothing leaves your PC: no sign-in renewal, no sync and no cloud feature. Dictation keeps working. Private mode is a setting on each PC, and the Pill turns red while it is on.
This website
speechpill.com uses no cookies, analytics, advertising or trackers, and has no forms. Cloudflare, which serves it, may log your IP address for security.
